![]() What have I Learned? I have learned a tremendous amount about technology at the perfect time. During this pandemic it has been hunger games to try to find software that works for my students but myself as well. Will my students understand how to use it? Will I be able to grade effectively? Will I be able to check my students learning? This are all questions that I ask myself while doing a google search of softwares to use. This class has given me a list that I do not have to research on. I have learned how to use the basics of each software discussed in this class. This class has showed me how important it is to stay innovative with technology. I promised myself that I would continue to learn about technology although my school is not technology equipped. My team members has taught me so much as well. We helped each other throughout the course. We learned what each uses/does in their classroom. Learning Tools Blog The blog has a whole was a really cool idea. I like that fact that we had to do blogs instead of discussion questions. It just makes the course more interesting. Im learning how to build a circicullum based website and learn at the same time. I would certainly like to use this idea because it confuses the mind. I think that I am just making a blog ,which is really popular now, but instead i'm doing discussion like questions. Projects Google Suite: I loved this tool. In fact, I was not using it that much before class but now I use it for everything. The only time I used it was to collaborate with co workers. Now I use it for my personal and professional life. In another course I had a powerpoint and presentation project instead of completing it on my Mac, I used google drive. When I was away from my Mac book but need to work on the project I was able to access it very easy. I would certainly be integrating this into my curriculum. Course Website: I really loved using this tool. For one, I am an very organized person, and this course website just makes life easy. I would change a few tabs to fit my need in my classroom but I am going to use this learning tool for my students and parents. I hope my principals love the idea. Edpuzzle: Edpuzzle was the learning tool I enjoyed the most. I had never heard of it but after discovering it I love it. This tool is perfect for my English Leaners. They could watch a video and listen to me at the same time without pausing the video. They are able to see visuals and answer questions DURING the video. My students would love this. Podcast I kind of like this tool but I will find it very hard for my students to use. I probably will not use this tool because my students need visuals to understand. I prefer to stick with linking my audio on edpuzzle or powerpoint. Padlet: This was a new learning tool for me. I think that this tool could be a resourcful for parents. They would be able to click on the different pads for more information about a certain topic. This learning tool would be super advance for my students. MovieMaker: This tool would be very time consuming being that I only have so much time a day to plan. I don't think I would be using this tool in my classroom. The only way I can think about using this is for a virtual awards ceremony or something close to that. Thinklink: I loved using this learning tool. It is something that I think I would use in my classroom. Again, my students love visuals and this tool is perfect for that. I am able to put interactive links over a picture. Scoop.it: This tool is still a tool I am debating about using. The website itself would confuse my students. They would probably be overstimulated. In the end, I probably wont use it. Quizizz: This is a tool I was using before the course and I love this tool. My students are able to take the quiz from their phone and I even have the option to print the test. Plus there are a million other test already created. I would be continuing to use this tool. Rubistar: I love this tool. This is a tool that makes life so much easier. I never really thought about creating a rubric with my 7th graders but now I think this would be beneficial for my students. They could see exactly what I want. My Strengths and Weaknesses Weakness: I often spend more time on organization than the actual quality of the learning tool. It is a good thing at times but others it is not. For an example, I spent a lot of time on organization on Thinklink than the actual quality of interactive links. Strengths: I love change, and I love learning about new technology. I learn best playing around with the tool versus attending a training. I think I am also very good at teaching someone else how to use the resource. Future Learning Goals My future learning goals would be to finish my Masters. I, also, want to create an engaging learning environment for my students. I want to increase my list of "Go to" learning tools. I want the list long so that when school returns I can bring a lot to my team.

Consider your level of educational technology literacy as you complete this course. How competent do you believe you are in order to teach in a technology-rich environment? What other opportunities would you search for to become even more proficient in the use of technology in the classroom?
I think that after coming to an end with this course, I feel very confident to teach in a technology-rich environment. I have learned so much from this course and also my team members. We often discussed what each other used to teach such as platforms or even just strategies. Edpuzzle by far was the best platform I could add to my list. It was very interesting to learn about and create. I feel that I am very competent now to teach about technology and also how to use technology. In order to stay a float with new platforms I would join a technology newsletter and I would sign up for as many trainings as possible. Through out each of my blogs I talked about how my school lacks technology. Well that is not the case for most schools in my district. Some schools are very equipped with technology. With that being said, my school district has a lot of free virtual trainings that teachers could watch about different softwares to use in the classroom. So to keep myself proficient with the use of technology in the classroom I would join as many as possible. At first I did not see the point for learning about new technology because of my school situation. This course has given me hope. Hope that my school will have an epiphany. With that hope I am going to learn about as much technology as I can so that I can inform my team members. I don't want to get behind at all! This week was very informative just as the other weeks. I have learned how to use more software and yet again add to my "Software to use" list for teaching. My responsibilities were to create the thinklink and I think it was very cool. I was able to use a visual which is a plus for my English Learner students. Within the visual I was able to add pictures, audio, videos, and text to the picture. The picture was more so as an interactive picture. You could clip on each link that will open different types of tags. I totally want to use this when the new school year starts. I think that one day I can take a break from the lecturing and let the students teach themselves maybe have this as a review day on a Friday. My team members thus far is very amazing. I like how we each encourage each other and offer constructive criticism. Another part of the project was making a quiz and a rubric which I once again discovered new software to make my teaching life much easier. I normally use quizzes and kahoot but i've never used rubistar. I look forward to learning more in our last week!
Imagine that you are a high school social science teacher. You have assigned students a ten-page research paper. How do you set-up the assignment to make it clear that plagiarism will not be tolerated and what tools would you use to check for plagiarism? What steps would you take if a student’s paper is found to have been copied in parts from the Internet?
What would I do In order to make sure that plagiarism will not be tolerated I will give my students a powerpoint about the importance of not plagiarizing in the beginning of school year when rules and procedures are being established. I would make sure the powerpoint includes the consequences of plagiarizing. I would also like to include examples of past students plagiarizing and of course what their consequences were excluding the student name. I could make a whole discussion/ lesson out of it. To make sure my students understand I would probably include a check for understanding, such as, a quiz or a mini project. After doing some research I googled a list of free plagiarism trackers. If my school does not provide a software that does so, I would use quetext.com. It is free and easy to use. After researching I started to remember how my high school teacher showed us the importance of not plagiarizing. She would often tell us to submit our paper to a free checker before turning the paper in. She would want our precent to be super low and under a certain percentage. The checker would often tell us exactly what sentence was plagiarized so that we could change it before turning it in. I think I would like my students to do the same. Consequences If I find that a student paper has been plagiarized. I would take the consequences listed on my syllabus which would probably be bring the attention to the principal to determine the consequence. Those consequences could be a F on the project or in the class or other disciplinary actions. This week learning experience has been just like the others. I have learned much more than I thought I could. My favorite part about this week is learning how to navigate Edpuzzle. My group member Nicole suggested that I use one of her youtube videos that she created as my primary video to use. I never thought about making a youtube video for a lesson so that my kids could view it later. I also thought of the idea that I could make the youtube video for a pre-recored lesson just incase if I was out because of being sick.
Edpuzzle is really cool interactive video software to use. I was able to record over the youtube view and add what I wanted to say. I was able to add questions to the video for checkpoints. This software is definitely a software I would use for the future. If I had a chance to change group members I wouldn't dare take it!. They are a really nice group of professionals to work with. The course website is a tool that I think I would use. This made everything super organized in one setting. I do not think I would use padlet and movie story. Movie story is very time consuming and padlet would be over simulated for my students. Course Website https://zoonoses-unit.weebly.com/ Padlet https://padlet.com/terrycullum/als4vqj0xlymzv3z Movie Story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18zINLe-3z0 Interactive Video https://edpuzzle.com/assignments/5f0746b2182d093f2eec8cd5/watch Our class code is: awomefv Chapter 8. Question 3. Select the five distance-learning technologies that you would prefer to use if you were teaching a distance-education or blended course. Reflect on your teaching style and your students’ learning styles and how each of the selected technologies would be received, depending on the students’ learning styles. Microsoft Teams Microsoft Teams is a really good application that my school district use and it helps to keep everything organized. I prefer this application over zoom because I am able to create a team and add all my students by period using student ID numbers which is very convenient. If I have a message to send out, I can simply send the message in the group chat (which is different from meeting chat) and it will also send an email that a message has been posted in the team. I am able to do everything that my students need right from this platform. My students gets confused very easy so this platform is very easy for them now. I can post assignments under assignments or I can post quizzes under quizzes. Teams has a calendar so that teachers and students could keep up with scheduled meetings. Even grading the assignment is very easy. It lets me check to see how many students viewed the assignment, how many turned in the assignment and even if the assignment was turned in late. I love that when my students have a question they could personal chat me instead of in the group or meeting chats. Near-pod Near-pod is a platform that my district just started introducing to us during the start of the pandemic. My kids are visual and kinesthetic learners so just standing there presenting figurative language would definitely put them to sleep. After attending the trainings on near-pod, I would be using that for the start of the school year as my preferred presentation application. I think this platform would be beneficial to my students learning style. I would include a lot of games and pictures to fit the needs of my students. Imagine Learning Imagine learning is a platform that my school district uses to monitor students progress. The application has lessons that includes games during the lesson to make it engaging. If I am teaching about inferencing, I can custom pick a lesson for my students to do for a certain time frame. I am able to see if the student passed the lesson or if they are retaking a lesson with the number of times retaking. I am able to see how much time is spent on the application with the days and weeks data. This platform is just really good to give to students if they need the extra help. The platform meets the students where they are at after taking a required assessment to place them. This platform meets all learning styles. Google Apps Google apps is a preferred platform looking at a co worker to co worker stance. I am able to collaborate with my co teachers and aids. We could all be on call together working on a lesson plan watching live edits versus sending emails constantly with updated documents. My students also need it being that many do not have Microsoft installed on their computer. They are able to complete their assignments from any location and upload them to Microsoft Teams. Youtube Considering that majority of my students learning habit is by visuals. Youtube does an amazing job of cartoon videos to help explain my lesson. For example, my students may not completely understand the elements of a plot but there is a cool video on youtube that uses Disney Movies to help students understand it. I able able to attach the video in my presentation to display for the students. MY LEARNING EXPERIENCES My learning experiences thus far has been amazing. Learning from each other and feeding off each other has helped each of us to excel. Our weekly meetings we are able to learn something new/interesting about each other. Each calls starts off by us simply explaining what is need to be done this week. We make sure that each other understands exactly what is need to be done because sometimes there could be different interpretations of the instructions. When one of us needs help, we help and encourage so that no one is left behind. We learn something new each week about technology even if it just sharing what piece of technology we each use in personal and professional life surround that topic. I was responsible for project 4 which was the google presentation and document. Ironically, I have never created a new document or presentation using google apps, I have always received the document already created where I would just have to add what I needed. Working on project 4 was a good experience for me being that I am used to using Mac Word. I left my laptop at home one day and was able to log on to my drive using another computer and pick up where I left of at and I thought that was very convenient. In my professionally life I would definitely be using google apps from now on. Click Each link to view my group's project. :) |

What would you do if you saw one of your students sharing personal information about themselves or posting detrimental comments about others on the Web? What is the limit of your responsibility under those circumstances?
If I saw my students posting their personal information on the web or detrimental comments I would definitely step in and intervene. I would take one day to talk about this topic in general to my classroom. I would want them to understand the importance of not doing such a thing. I would then proceed to tell them that cyberbullying is a crime. My school lacks the technology to be able to teach exciting and engaged lessons with new technology and software but because of the pandemic everyone was required to use an online platform. Students and some teachers never used a platform before to reach parents and students so it was an eye awakening for most to do so once school opens back up. We mainly used Microsoft Teams and there was a chat that students could talk in. One day, late at night, my students decided to post inappropriate, and detrimental comments in the chat box. I was unaware for ten minutes until I saw my phone constantly going off. My principal had intervened but it did not cause the students to stop posting the inappropriate comments. I instantly responded by stating, "No one respond after my message, I will be calling parents in the morning." The next morning, I called each parent and wanted to speak to each student about why not to do such things on the internet for the present and the future. My responsibility is to intervene, deescalate, and report especially if we are using the web for education purposes. I can not be friends with students, therefore, I can not see their social media and what is posted. I think that my school should have trainings for the students on internet etiquettes. Some have never heard the do's and don'ts because of the lack of teaching and not using technology. Schools need to make cyberbullying a topic that is aware by each and every student.

If I had to choose between working with group or doing individual work, I would choose group work. Not only is the workload smaller, but you are able to learn more in a short amount of time. My group members are very smart and very sociable.
My job for the group was to write the objectives for our project. I am currently learning in another course how to write terminal and enabling objectives. The strategy we used was the ABCD method. The acronym stands for Audience, Behavior, Condition, and Degree. Our lesson objectives were created by using what we would be doing for our project as a whole. We wanted each of our objectives to begin with a strong verb. I cannot wait to see the end result of this project.
This project was the start of collaborating on google Drive. I did not use this tool as much before but this course has showed me the importance of using this especially during this time. We were all able to create this project while viewing the document at the same time.

Chapter 6. Question 2. Learning content within the framework of a language that is not your native language can be challenging. Consider how you would respond to this challenge. What technologies would help you if you were facing learning new content in another language?
Teaching a class that has 95% English Learners can be very difficult at times. I often have to take a step back and put myself in their shoes. I can respond to the challenge by being dependent with technology. I have learned over the course of trying to teach myself Spanish I learn better when I put a picture next to the word. I retain the information better when I put a picture with a word. My students often tell me, "Let me be your teacher today." When I am teaching they often stop me and say "To say this word in Spanish is ..." They would then proceed to tell me to draw a picture or write the word in Spanish on the board. The technology I would depend on when learning content in a different language is google translator. I have to talk to parents that do not speak English so I solely rely on google translator. If the content I was learning was in a different language and had an unfamiliar word, I would simply type the word into google translator. Another software that I rely on is Duolingo. It is app on your phone that could help you learn a new language. If I were to move to a country to obtain a degree that only speaks Spanish, I would definitely rely on those two pieces of technology. After putting myself in my students shoes, I see how difficult it is to understand the content I teach especially in a different language. I have to scaffold a lot for my students.
